About
Shalise Barnes
Founder, Project Artemis
I work with international buyers and investors on property projects across Italy, with a focus on acquisitions that require both strategic clarity and design direction.
My background is in fine art and architectural history, and my work has developed on the ground — managing projects, building and operating rental properties, and analysing hundreds of opportunities across markets like Malta and Sicily.
This combination shapes how I approach property: as a cohesive unit that must function financially, spatially, and operationally.
“Shalise is more than a professional of the highest-caliber, she is a star. Truly talented at what she does.”
“The more I’ve lived in this apartment, the more I’ve grown to love it and call it my home”.
Design Philosophy
My work is guided by the belief that every space carries a story — shaped by its geography, its history, and the way it has been used over time.
I design with that in mind.
Rather than erasing what exists, I work with it. Using proportion, material, and light to create spaces that feel specific to their setting. The goal is not to produce something neutral, but something that holds identity.
Design directly affects how a property performs.
In a market saturated with interchangeable spaces, character creates distinction. Distinction creates demand.
Experience
I have reviewed and analysed a high volume of properties across Italy, particularly in Sicily, working with clients at different stages — from early exploration to full project execution.
Alongside this, I have developed and managed short-term rental properties, giving me a practical understanding of how design decisions translate into occupancy, pricing, and guest experience.
My work has been recognised through industry awards and publications, but more importantly, it is grounded in real projects delivered within real constraints.
